Sleepy

When designing a new doll, I always think of cute and weird little animals that I have not seen before made out of yarn. This is how I came up with the sleepy little desert fox. With such huge ears and tiny body, this was the perfect little critter. I wanted to experiment with a different facial expression and swapped my traditional massive eyelashes look for some big sleepy eyes! The result is a sweet little doll that cant keep awake that would help your little ones to go to sleep!

Finished Measurements

3 to 4 inches tall depending on your yarn and hook size.

1 Skein DK yarn;

Beige, brown and black

Recommended needle sizes

Stitch Marker

Gauge

Gauge is not important for this project. Stitches should be worked tightly enough in to prevent stuffing from showing through.

Pattern Notes

The doll is worked in separate pieces: head, ears, eyes, body, arms, legs, tail. As Amigurumi is worked in spiral, you do not join rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the end of your rounds and move it up every round.
Sc dec: Pull up a loop in next 2 sts, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook (counts as one sc).

Skills Required

Single crochet, single crochet decrease, single crochet increase, slip stitch, half double crochet, double crochet, knowledge of crocheting in the round and magic ring.

FINISHING

Stuff the head firmly, pin the eyes in place and sew them on with the tail of black yarn. Sew the eyelids in place.

Thread your embroidery needle with 3 strands of black floss and embroider the nose, then sew the nose in place using the tail of beige yarn, referring to the photo for placement. With black floss, embroider a tiny mouth and eyebrows, making simple straight stitches.

Now pin the ears in place and sew them on using the tail of brown yarn.

Stuff the body firmly and attach head to body. Sew the arms and legs in place using tails.

Sew the tail to the back of the body.

Final touch - Use a red pencil or felt tip pen to draw the rosy cheeks to add cuteness to your little fox.

Nelly

Nelly was taught how to crochet in my early teens by her grandmother and since then, has always carried a crochet hook on her travels without knowing what to make! Then she discovered the super cute world of Amigurumi and it appealed to her straight away. She now designs her own little dolls, and also enjoys using felt, fabric and anything glittery!
