Once upon a time, there were two knitters: one in Georgia and one in Colorado. Through the amazing online world, called the internet, these two knitters quickly became virtual friends. They would share comments on each others blogs and email each other on occasion. In 2007, they both found out that they were pregnant with baby girls. This opened up even more for them to chat about and they became closer friends. By some stroke of luck, their girls were born two days apart in September, 2007. It was fun for them to see how the other baby was doing, how tired the other mama was, and to see how similar and different their girls were.
Fast forward to October, 2008. Two working mamas with little one year olds. Both mamas had been bit by the designing bug months earlier. Each mama was doing well with their designs, sharing them on their blogs and on Ravelry. What better muses to have than these sweet little girls? Once, in an email conversation, they were discussing the lack of knitwear designs for toddlers on the internet as well as the onslaught of incredibly talented knitwear designers. Thus, Petite Purls was created.
Our vision for Petite Purls is to offer exquisitely crafted, fashion forward, quality knitting patterns accompanied by beautiful photography. We are thrilled to have our first set of designers working with us as well as our tech editor extraordinaire, Joan Beebe. Joan has worked with Brandy and her Pixie Purls line of knitwear designs and we are so happy that she is on board for Petite Purls. Our first issue has more than exceeded our expectations and we are so excited to see what’s in store for the future.
Welcome to Petite Purls! We are happy you are here!
Brandy Fortune began knitting in 2003 when she took what she thought was a crochet class at a local yarn store. In 2007 Brandy gave birth to her daughter, and knit several sweaters throughout her pregnancy. While there were loads of darling patterns, she wanted something a little different. Thus began her adventures in designing knitwear for babies. You can read the Pixie Purls blog, and see her other knitwear designs by visiting her website.

When she is not knitting or dreaming about knitting, Allegra Wermuth is a mother, wife, teacher and professional violinist living outside of Denver, Colorado. Her father taught her to knit six years ago when she wanted to knit small decorative scarves for all the women who were a part of her wedding. She hasn't put her needles down since. You can read about her adventures in knitting at her blog.
